First Home Buyer Heaven
A development that’s perfect for first time home buyers is proving a hit in the Southern Lakes area of Central Otago.
Sections in the third release at Longview subdivision in stunning Lake Hawea have hit the market.
The 35ha development saw an impressive response to the first and second releases, with Harcourts agents Gavin Vize and Eamon Young expecting this new release to be snapped up just as fast.
Pricing starts at $309,000 for a 250sqm section offering a lifeline to those first timers trying to get on the property ladder.
Getting on to the property ladder
First time home buyer Greer Jeune-Manning bought a section at Longview earlier this year and couldn’t be happier.
Originally from Auckland, Greer moved to Queenstown for work in 2019. She wasn’t having much luck getting her foot in the overheated and hugely competitive Queenstown market, so began looking outside the area.
She’d visited the Wanaka and Lake Hawea area a few times, saw the incredible lifestyle potential and fell in love. When she first came across Longview she was hooked.
“I first saw Longview online and quickly engaged with Harcourts. I was surprised by what was on offer in terms of lot sizes and prices,” says Greer.
“I really appreciated the developer’s intentions with Longview and their preference for first time home buyers. To even be considered in the purchasing game was huge for me.
“It’s great to see younger people moving to Wanaka and Lake Hawea and being able to buy and build. There’s such a great lifestyle here, off the beaten tourist track but still close enough to amenities.”
In additional to 480 residential lots, plans include two large reserves, a children’s playground and a commercial precinct with a licensed café, offices and business tenancies
“This makes it feel like it will be a great community to build and live in,” says Greer.
Lake Hawea is well-known as an adventurer’s paradise. Straddling both the Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago regions, it has a proud history and exciting future. With world-class ski fields only an hour away and the lake edge a quick three-minute drive, winter and summer activities are right on the doorstep.
Developers Universal Developments thought carefully about how Longview fits in the Lake Hawea mix, says Eamon Young.
“It’s really important for a new subdivision to not only provide a variety of housing options for people, but also to fit in with the local area and add something to it,” says Eamon.
There’s no denying that this part of the country is extremely desirable, and Lake Hawea is arguably one of the fastest-growing areas in the district.
Filled with confidence
Greer says she was delighted with her experience with Harcourts.
“Buying property on your own can be very intimidating and frankly quite daunting but Gavin made the whole experience stress free,” says Greer.
“Gavin and the Harcourts team were wonderful throughout the whole the process. Approachable, knowledgeable and genuine. They really provided the confidence I needed to make the leap and I’m so grateful I did!”
Stage 1a construction of the development are now complete with titles expected shortly.
