Raising Funds For A Mitey Cause

When it comes to good community causes, the Dunedin Harcourts team is always keen to get on board.

They were more than happy to get involved in ‘The Mitey Drive’ fundraiser for the Sir John Kirwan Foundation Mitey Programme.

Together with Land Rover, Sir John drove across New Zealand to raise awareness for mental health. Community events were held along the way to fundraise, and Harcourts Dunedin was proud to be a part of it.

Branch manager and leading auctioneer Richard Stringer lent his skills to the Dunedin community auction night. He raised a lot of money and laughs, so much so the Mitey team was keen to take him on the road with them, saying he was the best auctioneer they’d had.

The night was held at Armstrong Prestige’s showroom and saw a fantastic turnout of local businesses and proactive community members all rallying together to support a great initiative.

All up over $28,500 was raised from the Dunedin auction night contributing to the $1 million goal. Richard was very pleased with success of the evening and stoked to see his own team there too.

“We’re very proud to have been involved in the Mitey Drive fundraiser,” he says. “It’s a great cause and we’re always looking for ways we can put our hands up and really support and give back to our community.”

Mitey is a New Zealand specific, Years 1-8 approach to embedding mental health education in teaching and learning. Its evidence based, aligns to individual school cultures and values, and is supported by a range of curriculum-based resources.

The $1 million funds will enable Mitey to be rolled out to 40 new schools, benefitting an estimated 11,000 kiwi kids. If you would like to contribute, please go here: https://www.mitey.org.nz/
