From Retail Sales to Real Estate
Lydia’s journey in real estate began almost three years ago, when she first started working as a sales consultant at Harcourts in Queenstown.
Coming from a background in retail sales at a local retail store called Pandora, she soon discovered a passion to pursue a career that allowed her to connect with people on a more personal level rather than transactional. Real estate, with its emphasis on building relationships and helping clients find their dream homes, offered Lydia the perfect avenue to do so.
Deciding to make the transition to real estate was an easy decision, having watched her grandmother who lives in Christchurch, work in the industry for over 30 years. Joining the Harcourts team ensured a solid foundation on which she has built her career from, as Lydia tells us about the extensive training that was offered to her since she first walked in the door, “The Harcourts training academy provide incredible advice and invaluable skills that have helped me start and grow my career as a sales consultant. Alongside the ongoing support and mentoring of the Harcourts Management team, agents and wider team, there is no where else I would rather be.” In a climate where many experienced agents have left the industry, Lydia finds herself busier than ever, “I am just getting started” she tells us.
Lydia demonstrates a natural flair for understanding her client’s preferences and long-term goals, enabling her to present them with properties that perfectly align with their needs. Since Lydia has started, she has been involved in an impressive 21 property transactions, where she has co-listed property with experienced agent Jason Drewett. She recently received a bronze achievement in recognition of her efforts at the Harcourts Quarterly South Island awards.
Harcourts Queenstown Sales Manager Priscilla Uhrle said “If you’re considering a career in real estate, there is no better time to get started than now. The real estate industry is constantly evolving and there are plenty of opportunities for those who are willing to work hard and stay committed to their goals. The first step is to get the required training and qualifications, which will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in the field. As you gain experience and develop your skills, you’ll discover that real estate is a fulfilling and rewarding career that offers plenty of room for growth and advancement.”
