Wanaka sends support to quake-hit Kaikoura
When support is needed, actions speak louder than words.
Guy and Sheryl gathered a crew of local snowboarders, surfers and bike riders to enjoy the newly-released movie Surfers’ Blood from US filmmaker Patrick Trefz.
Together, we raised $1,000 and this will go directly towards helping the quake-hit community in need.
We contacted two of the people worst-hit by the earthquake — Chris and Annemarie Lidgard — to ask where exactly we should direct the funds.
They suggested the local swimming pool: it’s at the very centre of the community. Having it back up and running will offer the people of Kaikoura some normalcy and respite from their post-tragedy adversity.
We are therefore donating the raised funds to Kaikoura Combined Sports Club.
If you’d like to assist with the cause, please give generously to:
- Bank account name: Westpac Kaikoura Branch
- Bank account number: 03 1586 0001442 00
- Reference: New pool
Thank you for your donation. We hope that the people of Kaikoura are able to get their lives back on track quickly.
