The best auctioneers in the country are at Harcourts

The REINZ 2017 National Auctioneering Championships took place last weekend and Harcourts auctioneers claimed all four top spots in a heated competition.

Ned Allison of Harcourts Grenadier in Christchurch beat out auctioneers from across New Zealand to win the title of REINZ 2017 National Real Estate Auctioneering Champion. Mark McGoldrick from Harcourts Holmwood placed second while another Harcourts auctioneer, Tim Snell of Cooper & Co in Auckland, won the Rising Star Award with Caleb Griffioen of Harcourts Gold as runner-up.

Held at Auckland’s Alexandra Park Function Centre, 21 final competitors in the senior heats were each tasked with calling a simulated auction, in which they were thrown challenge after challenge: they dealt with the most difficult bidding sequences imaginable and complicated legal questions. They were required to keep their cool, stay within the time limit and maintain their wit, charm and confidence.

The idea is that if you can handle that, you’re more than prepared for the toughest auction you’ll ever come across in real life.

Here at Harcourts Highland Group, we’re delighted to see fellow Harcourts auctioneers do so well in this esteemed competition. The strength of our brand lies in the many talented people we have across the country and our clients can take confidence from the success and culture we foster on a national level.

Ned was quick to praise the philosophy at Harcourts for his success, saying there’s a strong auction fraternity within the company and he was helped generously by many experienced auctioneer colleagues.

“That’s something that is very unique about Harcourts. We are all happy to help each other out and are genuinely happy when one of our colleagues does well.”

Harcourts CEO Chris Kennedy agreed.

“We place huge importance on auctions as a marketing choice for clients — it helps them get the best price the market is prepared to pay. We train and mentor our auctioneers, and that’s why we have the best in the business.”

Auctioneers are constantly learning and picking up new tips and tricks, and ours will certainly be inspired by this latest Harcourts success. It’s clear that anyone who wants to achieve a premium sale result by way of auction should choose Harcourts, wherever their property is in New Zealand: they’ll benefit from long-standing dedication, unparalleled expertise and real passion for this sale method.
